BIOGRAPHY
Naomi is a versatile and interactive performer who enjoys a varied career performing acoustic and electric violin in events and showcases across the UK and the world. From exciting collaborations with DJs to an active engagement in the UK Asian music scene and a history performing across Mexico, Naomi loves experimenting with different genres and bringing unique, show-stopping performances to her audiences.
From a musical family, Naomi started violin at the tender age of three. This early start, with music a constant presence at home, trained her musical ear, enabling her to pick up tunes quickly by listening to them, a skill which she carries into her professional life. Naomi also learnt piano with her Mother, concert pianist Beate Toyka, and joined a number of choirs across Derbyshire including Voices and Derby Cathedral Choir, which provided excellent musical training. As a teenager, Naomi started to focus seriously on the violin, joining the National Children’s Orchestra followed by National Youth Orchestra, as well as leading Derby County Youth Orchestra under internationally renowned conductor Peter Stark.
Naomi went on to read BA German, Spanish and Politics at Durham University, where she flourished musically, leading Durham University Symphony Orchestra and joining the first violins of the Junge Deutsche Kammerphilarmonie in Berlin whilst on her year abroad. After graduating in 2017, Naomi moved to Mexico City, where she truly discovered her ability to experiment with different genres on the violin and started working as a full-time musician.
Whilst in Mexico, Naomi worked with producers and artists such as Live Sessions Mexico, Latin Grammy-nominated Vladimir Suárez and Bolivian La Voz México runner up Leo Rosas. She also toured with Rock-Blues singer Tere Estrada and folk project Gone Under Sea, performing in a number of festivals and showcases in Oaxaca and Mexico City, as well as for the prestigious Latin-American Wedding Planners Association ABC.
Since moving to London, Naomi has completed a Performance Master’s degree at Trinity Laban School of Music and Dance (2020) with Michael Bochmann OBE (Classical) and Kit Massey (Jazz) while expanding her work as a sought-after session and events violinist.
Naomi now performs for luxury events across London and the UK, and has performed for the clients such as JetBlue, Toyota, Peugeot, the Rotary Club of London and House of Ikons during London Fashion Week. Recent highlights include a winter residency performing upbeat electric violin with DJ at The Curling Club based at The Langham Hotel, London, and performing for JetBlue’s Gatwick launch party at Tower Bridge, London. Venues Naomi has performed at include the House of Lords, Wembley SSE Arena, The Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican, the Shard, the Jazz Café and the London Eye.
As a backing violinist, Naomi has performed extensively with Bollywood artists such as Indian Idol 2018 winner Salman Ali, with Sunny Hindustani, Rohit Raut and Ankona Mukherjee as part of the Indian Idol 11 tour 2021 and multiple award-winning Navin Kundra.
